Nature and History Live Together in Villavicencio

Year after year, lots of tourists from all around the globe chose Cuyo region to spend their vacation time. The city of Mendoza, its 5 Stars Hotels and its wineries are the favorites among the visitors’ preferences and interests. The capital offers plenty of attractions, such as lovely squares and interesting artistic shows. The gastronomic side of the city is also greatly represented by high class restaurants and premium wineries, considered gourmet paradises. In addition to its urban charm, the neighboring areas of Mendoza city offer the most gorgeous scenery. Lovely weather conditions and warm temperatures make the capital’s surroundings a perfect place for any outdoor activity.

The natural reservoir of Villavicencio is probably one of the most interesting options for a tour throughout nature and history. From the Villavicencio’s mineralized waters to the building which used to be an hotel, there are plenty of places to visit in this location.

Villavicencio’s natural reservoir is placed 60 kilometers away from the city of Mendoza. During the sightseeing tour, visitors have the opportunity to stop over the former factory of mineral water, previously located in Las Heras. Some of the outlets used by Mendoza’s people to get their water supply remain on the corners.

The trip continues and the pre-Andean Mountain Range displays its magnificence, the visitors know they have arrived at the Villavicencio natural reservoir. Almost 70 thousand hectares of wildlife species and autochthonous vegetation are cuddled by giant mountains. Ancient paths from the Huarpes´ times, lead the group over the reservoir. The final stage of the walk is Los Caracoles, a viewpoint at 2,200 meters of height, where mounts, paths and wildlife can be appreciated.

The Villavicencio Hotel used to be one of the most prestigious in Mendoza. As a 5 Stars Hotel, it used to host entire families who came from abroad to spend their holidays in this charming location. In fact, accommodation had to be booked with certain anticipation in order to guarantee a bedroom. The façade, balconies and galleries of the structure remain in one piece, as well as the chapel where Sunday mass were celebrated. Villavicencio’s warm springs and the healing properties of the mineralized waters made this region one of the most popular in the country.

The journey ends with some wine tasting, usually the traditional and silky Malbec, the finest product of Cuyo region. Mendoza’s wines have been prized many times all over the world for a reason. Do not deprive yourself of such a magnificent experience, when visiting Mendoza.
